Dr. Shannon Wood Gallegos, Naturopathic Doctor & Licensed Midwife, Founder
Dr. Shannon firmly believes that an individual’s support structure and surroundings are the most important factors in healing and achieving autonomy in life. She believes that all people should be informed and empowered when it comes to their health care options. This philosophy of empowerment and support is the fundamental premise for her relationships with all of her clients.
Path into Wellness:
Dr. Shannon believes that the ideal model of care is to educate her clients and ensure a sense of community. This sense of community was instilled in her from a very early age growing up in a small town outside of San Francisco. It was the love of her family and her small town upbringing that gave her a sense of what community means and how integral it is to every individual’s wellness. At the age of ten, Dr. Shannon knew that her path would be in medicine, but it was her graduate work in nutrition that led her to a unique approach to healing. This unique approach consists of not only creating a supportive environment by listening attentively, but truly treating each person as an individual. She sees herself beyond the general confines of a health physician, and more importantly, as an educator to help lay foundations for her clients to live a whole, healthy life.
Dr. Shannon attended the California State University, Chico where she received a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences and a minor in Chemistry. She went on to complete a Master’s Degree in Nutrition and Food Science at Chico. This provided her with a new direction for her medical training, as she realized the true importance of preventative care. This led her to Bastyr University, where she graduated as a Naturopathic Physician in 2005. She also completed the Naturopathic Midwifery program and has assisted her clients in hundreds of births, including extensive work internationally.
After completing three years of graduate school, Dr. Shannon had the opportunity to explore her other passion, travel. She was a flight attendant for United Airlines and stationed in New York City for three years. This allowed her the opportunity to see and experience cultures throughout the world. In 2005, Dr. Shannon participated as a midwife in a local hospital on the island of Vanuatu. This clinical experience combined both her love of traveling and her passion for childbirth and women’s health. Traveling around the world and living in large cities capitalized Dr. Shannon’s passion for educating and the importance of community.

Dr. Jade Wimberley, Naturopathic Doctor
As a Naturopathic Doctor, providing alternative medicine, I believe in healing with nature as a primary aid. But, most of all, I believe that the relationship between practitioner and patient is paramount in quality healthcare. It is my responsibility to honor you as a person and to do everything in my power to educate and empower you to live the healthiest life you can imagine.
My professional (and personal) history has been a persistent journey of learning how to be healthy and then assisting others to do the same.
I am a co-founder of Zuma Natural Foods in Mancos, Colorado. Some family, friends, and community members thought I was crazy to take on such a risky venture but I thought it was necessary for the community to thrive. There was no local and organic food available within thirty miles of Mancos prior to Zuma’s existence, and now the store is an integral community hub.
I left Zuma to join the medical team at Open Sky Wilderness Therapy, a holistic therapeutic program for adolescents and young adults based out of Durango, Colorado. I made this leap, because I wanted to help others who, I felt, were in great need of medical care as well as a connection to nature.
Our team included other NDs, MDs, DOs, RNs and a psychologist. Together, we ensured that each client and family received the highest quality healthcare offered in the behavioral health field. Working with such a diverse group of professionals shaped my understanding of all types of medicine. Though practicing medicine in nature solidified my true understanding and belief of the vis medicatrix naturae—the healing power of nature.
Today, I practice as a Naturopathic Doctor in Carbondale, Colorado and treat clients nationwide via telephone and teleconferencing. I also run a Got Vitamin B12 clinic once a week at Lux Wellness Studio. I am the founder of The Health Revolution. The purpose of this social movement is to create change in how we approach health and provide healthcare in the United States. I believe that if individuals have easy access to integrative medicine, life can be lived fully, with less disease, stress, and general aches and pains.
Life is the biggest mystery. Being a character in this grand story can fill us with a sense of awe, belonging, and purpose. It’s tragic when we cannot participate fully because we are ill or stressed by the rapid pace we keep.
Each day nature offers us a gift, whether in the form of a rainbow, the birth of a child, a boost of energy, or a drizzly rain that entices you to curl up and read a book. Our job is to slow down enough to receive it.
